Hee, Hee, Hee!!

Honey, this is what you get for not paying heed to my plea's to not sell the Mitsubishi, you get to drive a Mini-Van!! Yep, Duane gets to drive the number one car on his most detested vehicle list from now until his Tacoma is repaired!! HA!! I probably sound mean!! I wanted so bad to keep my car, but lost out, told him that it would come in handy somewhere down the road... Yep, this would have been it!! We got to clean out the stuff we wanted to when we picked up the minivan, so at least that's taken care of!!

"Buyers Remorse?"

So, I am thinking, maybe this high speed thing was too good to be true? At least the part about the 'package' saving us money..... The guy that signed us up, said that we would get the RFD station..... You ask, what is the RFD station? It stands for 'Rural Farm Delivery', a term well used years ago in the Mid-West. THIS is THE station that babysits my Dad 17 hours a day!! Needless to say, when the station did NOT come on for us the day of installation, Dad had a meltdown!! I SO have an 84 year old kid on my hands!! Sooo, I called Verizon and had to upgrade our package, which will cost 10 dollars more a month, there goes the savings of having a 'bundle' price!! GRRRRRRR!!!! I have half a mind to call the guy that talked us into all of this and give him a piece of my mind I can't afford to give away!! Not to mention that the remote for the TV in the master bedroom doesn't work worth a hoot, and I have to call Verizon YET again tomorrow and complain about that!! Okay, got that off my chest!! At least I can download things faster, although my computer won't let me complete downloading I-Tunes, so a setting must be messed up, lord knows it's not because my connection is too slow!!
Switching gears..... We take the rental truck back tomorrow, our neighbor offered up his pickup for Duane to drive, Duane's not happy about me getting it all arranged, but TOO bad!! I want him safe, and that does NOT include riding his bicycle back and forth to work!! I told him that thanks would be a gift card to a nice restaurant, and a full tank of gas when we give it back. He just doesn't want to impose, but truth be known, he would do the same for them if the situation were reversed and we had an extra vehicle!! (We did, by the way, and even though I begged to keep it, Duane made me sell it!!) Too bad we didn't keep one of the other campers, or the extra canopy, last year at this time we had 3 cars, 2 campers, and 2 canopies, now we have one car, and the other in the shop for God knows how long.... Yes, the Tacoma is being resurrected, just how long that will take, nobody knows!! Duane just wants his truck back, he drove one of the 2009 Tacoma's and didn't like it. It will be cheaper to fix it than to buy a new one, this is true, but I have to wonder if it will be as good as new. Time will tell, I guess!! Well, guess that's about it, we also may be going out to the collision repair place in the morning, so maybe we will have more clarity on how long the repair will take.... We also had to leave the wheelbarrow, a couple of shovels, and the chainsaw in the back of the truck the day we crashed since we didn't have any way to bring them home, so need to get that stuff back. Whew!!!
Whine, whine, whine, got any cheese to go with it?????

Another late night!!

This madness has to end!! I am spending WAY too much time messing around on this thing, NOT getting other things done, and most importantly, NOT sleeping!! Stop the madness!! I think I messed up too, tried to download a ringtone to my phone from the internet and nothing happened....... I am such a dork when it comes to that stuff!! Back to work tomorrow at 11am, so had better go finish "closing procedures" and go to bed!! NOW!!!

Welcome to High Speed Everything!!

So, today we got hooked up with Verizon FIOS, internet, TV and phone. Wow. I feel in over my head once again, I have been sitting here messing around with this thing for hours!! I haven't even attempted to start getting aquainted with the TV remotes, that will take some time too!! There's always tomorrow, I need some sleep!! This installation thing started at 8am this morning. For once "The Guy" was right on time... That can only happen when you want to sleep in, right? HA!!

Back to Work.....

So, Duane went back to work today, left here about an hour ago or so. I miss him already, and will worry about him all afternoon and evening. I will try to keep busy, I need to do some grocery shopping, and Dad wants to get out of the house, maybe I will take him out for frozen yogurt later. My stomach is giving me fits, I don't get nauseous very often, so when I do it concerns me, probably just nerves. Well, procrastination is getting me nowhere, I better get on with it!!

Icky Rain, Boring Day.....

We picked up the rental car this morning, actually it is a Nissan Frontier pickup truck. Nice, but not our Toyota!! At least I won this battle, got him into the rental vehicle instead of riding his bike back and forth, as he was threatening to do. That would be INSANE considering the 16 mile round trip, and his hours and the areas he would be riding through!! Hopefully we will hear the first of the week that the appraiser has looked at the truck and we can get something going, Duane is leaning towards getting it fixed even if the insurance totals it. We will see......

We're doing okay....

So, 3 days later, we are all doing pretty good, my ribs aren't as sore as yesterday, and Duane's shoulder is better too. We got the papers signed yesterday for the re-financing thing, so that's taken care of. We are still waiting on news about the truck, whether or not it is fixable. I have a rental lined up to pick up tomorrow, Duane is relenting on that, thank goodness!! I hope that his truck can be repaired, in the long run it will be less expensive than taking on a car payment.
Duane goes back to work on Sunday, somehow I managed to get Sunday off, I go back at 11am on Monday. 31 hours again next week, and 2 closing shifts.... Oh, joy!!

"In Remembrance"

Where to start, yesterday was a very scary day for us!! We were on our way to Central Oregon yesterday morning, got about a mile East of Shorty's Corner and apparently hit a patch of black ice!! Duane tried to steer into it, there was a 4 ft ditch, and beyond that a driveway over a drainage pipe that had about a 5 ft drop coming at us. Apparently when our front tires hit the dirt, (and the mile marker) the steering away from the driveway and all turned us 180 degrees around and we landed on the driver's side in the ditch. The dogs were with us, they landed on the driver's window by Duane, and I was hanging by my seatbelt. 2 seconds later, a couple of guys were prying the passenger door open to see if we were okay. Fire, paramedics, Sandy police, State police, and oddly enough, the first rig on the scene was the tow truck!! Duane's canopy saved us from flipping or rolling all the way, probably saved the dogs for sure from getting hurt. They were scared to death, we handed them out, I wrapped Homer in a towel I had on the seat, and someone wrapped Tuco in a sweatshirt. They got me out next, then Duane got himself out. The gal that was holding Tuco was bleeding on her face, Tuco struggled and scratched her. I felt so bad, she was just trying to help. There were probably 15 to 20 people around us between the fire, rescue, police and good samaritans. I hugged the guys that pulled me out, and hugged the gals that held Tuco and Homer. Duane and I got bumps on our heads, Duane's left shoulder that came down on the driver's side hurts, and my chest and shoulders where the seatbelt had me hanging are sore today. We are both still in a state of shock I think. His poor little Tacoma is probably done for, it sustained a lot of damage. It was Duane's baby, he took such good care of it, had a lot of people offer him top dollar for it. The guys that looked at it yesterday said it was so clean and well cared for, they couldn't believe it was a 1996. So, needless to say, we aren't going anywhere this week, just waiting to get the final word on the truck's fate, and taking it from there. Thankfully we have towing and a rental car on our insurance, I highly reccomend paying whatever it takes to have that option on your policy, you never know when you might need it!!

Almost There!!!!!!!!

Well, one more day, a 2pm to 11pm to get
through, and then..... VACATION!!!! Thank goodness!! I am so ready.... People are driving me nuts, yes, the government dole does drag them in by the dozens!! People are acting so dumb, that it makes me go, "huh?" We both go to the dentist on Friday morning, to get our teeth cleaned, I am electing Duane to go first at 8am, then me at 9am so that I have more time to sleep and get up and ready to go!! I want to get my nails done on Friday if I can, we will see!! I got mad and frustrated this morning, to sum it up short and sweet, I literally threw my clock radio that I have in my bathroom over the back fence before I left for work. I know I am on the "edge" when I behave like that!! It oddly enough

brought me peace and a certain amount of satisfaction, so all is not lost!! A gal brought a tiny little Yorkie into our department yesterday in a little purse/tote, she only weighed 2 pounds!! Her name was Lucy, the owner rescued her from her nutso neighbor last October, the guy had Lucy and her sister living outdoors in a kennel, and fed them big dog kind of hard dry food that they could hardly eat!! Both of them were malnutritioned, had lost most of their teeth, and a lot of their hair. Lucy's "Mom" approached him and asked if she could have one of them, he wanted her to take them both. She had a friend that had just lost her Yorkie, and talked her into taking the sister. This gal takes Lucy to the nursing home her Mom is in and uses her as a "therapy dog and takes her around to all the residents. Lucy is so sweet, since all of her teeth are gone except one, her tongue hangs out, and despite it all, is the sweetest thing!! Lots of kisses, and she was decked out in a personalized pink rhinestone collar and a little dress!! She let me hold her, my eyes welled up with tears to think of what the little thing had been thru!! People that mistreat animals like that should receive a big dose of their own medicine and then some!!

It would be bad news if I volunteered at a shelter, I would want to take home all of the little dogs that came in!! I took a couple pictures of Lucy with my camera phone, maybe someday I will get the software loaded back on my computer that will let me download the pictures so I can post them!! My Homer would make 2 of Lucy, and he only weighs 6 1/2 pounds!! Well, that's all "I have for tonight........ Vacation, here we come!!!

Work, Work, Work......

That's all we seem to do lately!! I am working waaaaay to much this week, 40 hours, four 11-8's and the last day on Thursday a 2-11pm, yuk!! Thankfully the first 2 days went pretty fast and painless for the most part. I swear that people are getting dumber and meaner every day!! Apparently the miracles our new president promised are falling short, keeping people in a surly mood. I can't wait for the next few days, social security and welfare checks bring in the, uh, "desirable" people by the droves. 2 people came in tonight smelling to high heaven of booze and cigarettes, the lady was a bit obnoxious and irritated me, imagine that!! Homer is doing well, all of the drama of his teeth cleaning far behind him!! He and Humpy had a grand reunion!! Well, guess that's all I can come up with for tonight, gotta go watch today's Y & R and write out bills, yahoo!!
